Disaster Response

In light of the recent earthquake in Haiti here's how this congregation (and anyone else – businesses and individuals) can help out.

The quickest and most needed items right now are financial donations and Relief Kits. You can donate now using UMCOR's secure server by clicking this link.  The following lists are provided by UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) Click each link for a detailed description.

Cleaning Buckets

School Kits

Health Kits (This is the most important at this writing)

Other Ways We Can Help Now
• Pray for the people of Haiti and for all the first responders working now.
• Pray for Rev. Albert Melifaite and the congregation of First Haitian Church (Atlanta/Roswell District). Rev. Melifaite has extensive family in Port au Prince and he has been unable to contact them. Many in the congregation are in similar circumstances.
• Give to the UMCOR advance through our church.
• Contact your District Disaster Response Coordinator (listed at www.ngumc.org/disaster_response) for guidelines and requirements for team work.

Please DO NOT plan to send:
• Clothes…instead, have a local yard sale and give the proceeds to the UMCOR advance or to help sponsor a team.
• Untrained volunteers.
• Items in Flood Buckets that are not on UMCOR's prescribed list.  When mailing internationally, the buckets or packets must be exactly as specified. The most current list specifically does not include toothpaste.
